Tax Resource Centers

edward-harris-taxesEdward Harris, EA, has been preparing income taxes since 1984 and is enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. Enrolled agents (EAs) are America’s tax experts. An enrolled agent is a federally authorized tax practitioner empowered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Enrolled agent status is the highest credential awarded by the IRS. The EA credential is recognized across all 50 U.S. states.
Edward is also a licensed securities representative. A registered representative, also called a general securities representative, a stockbroker, or an account executive, is an individual who is licensed to sell securities and has the legal power of an agent in the United States.

Edward began the practice of preparing income tax returns and representing clients in his hometown in Southern California. In 1990 he moved to Seattle and started North West Tax Specialists. Meanwhile, he also worked for the clothing company Eddie Bauer, overseeing their tax department. During this time, he was selected to be part of a State of Washington committee, which was appointed by then Governor Gary Locke to help the state develop ways to make the Washington tax code more efficient and business friendly. In 2001 he decided to return to private practice and to concentrate on growing North West Tax Specialists. Today, with his help his new firm Tax Resource Center serves over 2,500 individual and business clients and represents clients at all levels of government: from the IRS, to the State of Washington, local agencies and all government entities. Tax Resource Center also prepares income taxes, sales and use tax reports and compiles payroll and related services. In 2010 Edward decided to become more active in the Washington State Society of Enrolled Agents and through that opportunity has been able to meet with members of the US Congress and Senate and interact with a seated US Tax Court Judge.

In 2013 he became President of the Washington State Society of Enrolled Agents and has since worked with more than 1,100 Enrolled Agents in Washington State and many more at the National level. In 2013 he earned the designation of NTPI Fellow, a designation awarded to those with significant expertise in the representation of taxpayers. Edward and his wife Gail, who have been married since 1996, enjoy hitting the open roads their Harleys, from short trips across the state to cross country trips. While as a young adult, Edward was an avid scuba diver, spending most summers diving with his father at Catalina Island in California, today he spends his free time showing English Bulldogs with his wife Gail.

Edward is active in his children and grandchildren’s lives and believes there is no greater pleasure in life than spending time with family.

Bob Nakamura has been preparing income taxes since 2012. Presently, he works on corporate, partnership and individual tax returns and prepares client accounts for audit.

As an Enrolled Agent he is a federally authorized tax practitioner empowered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury who represents taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).  EA status is the highest credential awarded by the IRS and is recognized in all 50 U.S. states

Bob was born in Subic Bay, Philippines, the son of a Japanese-American US Navy serviceman and his Philippine wife. He lived with his family in Honolulu, Hawaii, before his father decided to settle their family permanently in Tacoma, WA to avoid the frequent re-locations that are common with military life.

Bob began his professional life working in administration for the Ernst Corporation, and later for the Washington Department of Corrections. While working, Bob completed most of his undergraduate courses in business and accounting at the University of Washington. Upon completion, Bob began part-time work as a bookkeeper and inventory control specialist with Foster Counting Service in Seattle.

In 2000, Bob decided to change careers, and obtained a license as a commercial electrician. During the long apprenticeship for that highly specialized position, Bob worked part-time as a bookkeeper for M.J. Feet, Inc. in Seattle. After two years, he was promoted to Assistant Controller and continued at MJ Feet until he completed his electrical apprenticeship.

Bob enjoyed the challenging work as a commercial electrician and worked mainly on new commercial buildings. After the financial crash in 2008, however, when commercial electrical work became scarce, Bob decided to return to school at North Seattle Community College to complete his accounting degree.

Working as a personal and corporate tax adviser is both satisfying and challenging. Each individual, partnership and company faces unique situations that often require complicated resolutions; a responsibility which Bob takes very seriously. Bob has been happily married since 1990. Bob and his spouse  have lived in their tree-covered home on Magnolia in Seattle since 2001.They love to travel and over the years have  complied a large collection of books, art and ethnic artifacts.

She is passionate about her work and career and strives for continual improvement; improvement through hard work and thoughtful consideration for projects, clients and co-workers. As a future CPA, she is determined to be the best prepared person in the room and to become a tax expert that is second to none.

After working through the 2013/2014 tax season, she is thrilled and excited about our teams future in tax accounting.. She loves that no two clients are alike and that each case comes with unique issues and special challenges. Every return is a puzzle and has no easy answers. While the recent changes to the tax laws sometimes make her job challenging, she enjoys finding customized solutions for clients in a firm where client satisfaction is imperative.

When not glued to Tax Code or her work computer, Jovanka enjoys hiking, snowboarding, cooking, and most importantly, trying to be the best mom possible for her two children.
